What a hotel website in Zanzibar actually costs in 2026
Honest numbers, honest timelines, and what changes the price on a hotel website built in Zanzibar.
Why nobody will quote you a price
Ask three developers in Zanzibar what a hotel website costs and you will get three refusals to answer. The reason is not mystery, it is scope: a five room guesthouse that needs a booking button and a 40-key property that needs rate plans, seasons and channel manager sync are not the same project.
Here is the shape of it, in plain figures, so you can budget before you talk to anyone: including me.
What sits in each tier
Entry tier: a fast, mobile first brochure site with gallery, rooms, rates, a WhatsApp enquiry path and a booking link out to whatever engine you already use. Two to three weeks.
Middle tier: the same, plus a proper booking flow with deposits, local payment options, multilingual copy, structured data so your rooms and reviews can appear in search, and analytics that tell you which page produced the enquiry. Four to six weeks.
Top tier: custom design, photography direction, content written for search, a channel manager or PMS integration, and automation on the enquiry side so nobody waits overnight for an answer. Six to ten weeks.
What actually moves the number
Content readiness moves it most. A hotel with photography, room descriptions and current rates ready to go is a fraction of the cost of one where all of that has to be produced.
Integrations move it second. Every integration, whether a payment gateway, channel manager or CRM, takes development and testing.
Design ambition moves it third, and it is the one owners overestimate. Guests book on speed, clarity and trust long before they notice a beautiful transition.
The part that gets skipped
Budget for the first ninety days after launch. A site that nobody maintains loses to a site that is corrected weekly on the basis of what visitors actually do. That maintenance line is small and it is the difference between an asset and an ornament.

Questions people ask
Should a Zanzibar hotel build its own booking engine?
Almost never. Use a proven engine and spend the money on the pages and the response time that decide whether a guest reaches the engine at all.
How long does a hotel website take?
Two to three weeks for a focused brochure site with content ready, six to ten weeks for a custom build with integrations.
Do I need multilingual pages?
Yes, if Italian, German or French guests make up a significant share of your bookings. Start with the pages they use to book.
